Protect Your Recovery Seed

Your recovery seed is the master key to your cryptocurrency. Anyone with access to it can steal all your funds. Follow these critical guidelines.

Example Recovery Seed (12 or 24 words)

1.witch
2.collapse
3.practice
4.feed
5.shame
6.open
7.despair
8.creek
9.road
10.again
11.ice
12.least

* This is an example only. Never share your actual recovery seed with anyone.

DO's - Follow These Rules

  • Write your seed on the provided recovery card with pen
  • Store it in a secure, fireproof location (safe, vault)
  • Consider using a metal backup for fire/water resistance
  • Keep multiple copies in separate secure locations
  • Verify your seed backup before sending funds
  • Use a passphrase (25th word) for additional security
  • Keep your seed offline at all times
  • Tell a trusted person where to find it (in case of emergency)

DON'Ts - Never Do These

  • Never share your seed with anyone, including support
  • Never store it digitally (photo, text file, email, cloud)
  • Never type it on a computer or phone
  • Never store it unencrypted on any device
  • Never share it on social media or messaging apps
  • Never give it to anyone claiming they'll help you
  • Never store all copies in the same location
  • Never ignore warning messages from your Trezor

⚠️ Critical Warning

Trezor will NEVER ask for your recovery seed. If anyone asks for it (via email, phone, chat, or in person), they are trying to steal your cryptocurrency. No exceptions. Our support team will never ask for your seed phrase.

Security Best Practices

Enable PIN Protection

Always set a strong PIN on your Trezor device. This prevents unauthorized physical access to your wallet.

Use Passphrase

Add a passphrase (25th word) for an additional layer of security. This creates a hidden wallet that only you can access.

Verify Addresses

Always verify receiving addresses on your Trezor screen before sending funds. Protect against clipboard malware.
